HIPERNET seeks a wireless network engineer to be a member of our field installation team. This person will play a key role in network installation projects, often in large, outdoor venues. The job will include working with other HIPERNET engineers, cabling vendors, site staff, and other subcontractors.

What are the most important qualifications for this job? You should have at least 3 years of experience installing and troubleshooting medium to large WiFi-based networks. You must also prove that you are comfortable in a customer-facing role, working with other teams from multiple companies, and that your style and instincts for communication are sensitive to the needs and interests of others.
Responsibilities include:
Work with multiple teams, including the customer’s staff and cabling contractors, to ensure that the network is operational within the required timeline
Recommend AP placement adjustments when the current location cannot be used
Maintain a database for all information related to the APs being installed
Adjust channel and power plans to fine-tune the AP settings
Survey the facility when the network is completed to evaluate the wireless installation
Create and modify wireless device groups and templates for configuration
Test during live events to provide the equipment manufacturer with information to make additional channel and power recommendations
Experience and education required:
A minimum of 3 years installing, optimizing, and troubleshooting medium to large wireless networks
Significant experience and studies in relevant technology
Experience with NetScout Aircheck, Ekahau, or AirMagnet
Past experience working in teams comprised of people from multiple companies
Past experience in customer-facing roles
Able to work with minimal supervision, but in cooperation with other team members
60-80% travel required
Physical Requirements:
Lifting equipment, working with and moving step-ladders, scissor lifts, and bucket lifts. Using drills and screwdrivers to assemble and mount equipment as needed.
