HIPERNET seeks a Senior Network Engineer to be a leading member of our field installation team. This person will provide leadership and guidance for our network installations. The job will include working with other HIPERNET engineers, cabling vendors, site staff, and other subcontractors.

You’ll be occasionally traveling to project sites for a week or so to complete activities that require being on-site.

What are the most important qualifications for this job?  You should have at least 3 years of experience installing and troubleshooting medium to large L2/L3 networks. You must also prove that you are comfortable in a customer-facing role, working with cross-functional teams from multiple companies, and that your style and instincts for communication are sensitive to the needs and interests of others.

Responsibilities include:

  • Configure wired network switches and routers, wireless controllers and other network control appliances

  • Create switch and AP templates based on customer requirements

  • Work with multiple teams, including customers, venue staff, cabling contractors, and third-party resources to ensure that the network is operational within the required timeline

  • Test networks during live events to provide the equipment manufacturer with valuable information about the newly installed network and its performance

  • Work with sales to deliver accurate Statements of Work (quotes) to customers

  • Up to 50% travel required on an as-needed basis

Education required / preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred), or...

  • Significant experience and studies in relevant technology

Experience required / preferred:

  • Past experience with Cisco, Dell, Extreme Networks, Aruba, or Brocade network hardware. Extreme Networks experience preferred

  • Past experience leading teams and working on projects staffed by people from multiple companies

  • Past experience in customer-facing roles

  • Able to work with no supervision, but in cooperation with other team members

Technical Experience:

  • 3+ years of wired and/or wireless network experience, with a focus on medium to large deployments

  • Proficient in troubleshooting redundant switching and routing architectures, and high-density WiFi / DHCP service environments

  • Proficient with Extreme Networks switches and routers (preferred), or Cisco, HP, Dell, Juniper, Brocade) wired switching and routing

  • Proficient in Extreme Networks wireless networking (preferred), or Aruba, Aerohive, Ruckus, Everest
